Simply put, this means that we are taught a simplistic way of looking at geneics. Most of the phenotypes that we see every day are the result of a blending of traits. Just as there are many shades of red hair, there are many variations in the tone of colour in eyes, including people who have eyes of different colour.

Not necesarly. My both parents have hazle eyes. I have blue eyes, but my granmas and my grandgrandfather have all blue eyes. Recessive genes doesn't mean "like father, like son". But the genes will be activated sooner or later.
