If a Caucasian parent with blonde hair and blue eyes and Japanese parent had a child, what's th

That the child would inherit either the blue eyes or the blonde hair? I should think very unlikely, but I'm not sure.

Any (helpful) answer will do, but one that included percentages would be most welcome of all.

Thank you very much!

If a Caucasian parent with blonde hair and blue eyes and Japanese parent had a child, what's the chance...

Remember that each allele is classified as either dominant or recessive. Blue eyes is recessive u, and Brown eyes dominant U. Blond hair recessive b, and brown hair dominant B (in actuality it's more hybridized, but for academics let's just deal in certainties).

In order for blond hair and blue eyes to exist the person must exhibit alleles uubb. Japan and most of Asia has Brown hair brown eyes which is vastly dominant. We can pretty much assume the allele pattern UUBB for the Japanese parent.

So put it on a matrix and factor them all out:

Parents: uubb and UUBB

This would give children UuBb. All of them the same.

Because Brown hair and Brown eyes is dominant, all children will have Brown hair brown eyes. 0% chance of blond hair blue eyes. Unless the Japanese parent is in the extreme minority of Asians that carry the blond hair blue eyed gene. They will have hybrid genes though and if one of them mates with a UuBb or uubb, chances for blonde hair blue eyes can exist.

Well, this is outside my genetics study and from personal observation only (Over years). The Japanese genes seem to be extremely dominant and seem to override Caucasian genes for the most part (1st generation). Note, this is not scientific, just observation only...

some dominant traits are

dark hair

dark eyes

curly hair.

good luck
