Is there a reason why Jesus was portrayed as blond hair blue eyed?

That seems very crooked. This is your God !Now worship him!

It almost seem as if the white man is the true devil.

Is there a reason why Jesus was portrayed as blond hair blue eyed?

People portray their gods the way they want them to look. White Europeans transformed the Arabic Jesus into some Norse god.

its called artistic license

Portrayed as blond haired and blue eyed by whom?

Is there a reason why Jesus was portrayed as blond hair blue eyed?

I would think that Jesus' appearance would be irrelevant, at least based on the teachings of Christianity as I understand them...

Is there a reason why Jesus was portrayed as blond hair blue eyed?

I have never seen him portrayed this way. He always has dark hair and dark eyes.

He was JEWISH!

...brown hair...

what's crooked about blonde hair and blue eyes?

I don't think that last line makes sense at all in this context...

Is there a reason why Jesus was portrayed as blond hair blue eyed?

He isn't everywhere. Everyplace in the world has a different way he looks. He really had dark skin, black hair, and brown eyes. People just change his image to relate to him more.

Is there a reason why Jesus was portrayed as blond hair blue eyed?

Well, I'm trying to figure out where he was portrayed as such...

Often, when people think of Jesus, they think of a man that looks similar to them - similar race, color of skin, facial features, etc. The idea is that He's for all people, not just for one race. I go to Mexico and Jesus will look Hispanic in paintings and statues, I go to the Middle East and he might be Arabian(which is probably about what he looked like). Its not really a big deal.

Cuz he's really Swedish :)

Is there a reason why Jesus was portrayed as blond hair blue eyed?

I've never seen him portrayed as blonde haired and blue eyed. If there is a picture out there portraying him that way, they are very much mistaken. Christ probably looked like an Arab or Middle Easterner-- after all, he was BORN in Israel. So naturally he looked like other Israelis, right? He was most likely dark haired, dark eyed, with tan skin... not blonde haired, blue eyed, and white skinned. A lot people do not think of him as having an Arab/Middle Eastern look though, because people picture him as something similar to themselves.

Jesus portrayed as a white guy? Hmmm.

We all know that he was born among the people of Isreal, who were and are now fairly dark-complected.

Is there a reason why Jesus was portrayed as blond hair blue eyed?

Art history.

By the middle age, the church was gentile in majority. Europe was Christian. The prominent artists depicted Christ, not just as they themselves were, but also with a halo, which is not found in the Bible.

Artistic license.

I would not vilify a whole color of people for the errors of some.

Is there a reason why Jesus was portrayed as blond hair blue eyed?

Take an art history class. Then you will have some class.

White man is the DEVIL?

You know what " A doctrine of black suprmecy is just as evil as a doctirne of white supremecy"Martin Luther King Jr

Is there a reason why Jesus was portrayed as blond hair blue eyed?

The hair was bleached by the sun, the skin was darkened by the same and the eyes, that's genetics. But who does know?

Is there a reason why Jesus was portrayed as blond hair blue eyed?

Since nobody , in his day ever described Jesus , no paintings or drawings of him were ever made by anyone who knew him personally , we have not the tinyest idea if what he looked like .

The Dutch and Italian painters who painted the pictures that are recognized as portraits of Jesus, used their imaginations.

Don't blame them too much . They probably had no idea of what a Middle-Easterner actually looked like . Travel was very limited five or six hundred years ago.

Your above statements sound like they're from some uneducated fool who wants to get his say in .

Is there a reason why Jesus was portrayed as blond hair blue eyed?

Every culture thinks of him as they see themselves. White people view him as white, blacks view him as a black man, etc. But if you watch television, read, etc. about bible lands those people aren't caucasian, african american, Latino, nor Asian. The Bible doesn't describe what Jesus looks like. The pictures we see are people's guess. But we know typically they have dark hair/eyes, etc. People should stick to the facts.
